Exactly two weeks after Thanksgiving, the Department of Public Health in Georgia is now reporting more than 6,000 new COVID-19 cases, setting a new one-day record.

As of Thursday, there are now 462,175 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, an increase of 6,126 in the past 24 hours.

Georgia is also reporting 9,123 confirmed deaths, an increase of 55 in the past day, and 37,017 hospitalizations, an increase of 277.

As of 3 p.m., December 10th, there have been 23,453 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents of the Coastal Health District and 432 deaths.

On Friday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported nearly 4,800 new cases of COVID-19 and more than 300 new hospitalizations.

As of Friday, there are now 466,904 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, an increase of 4,775 in the past 24 hours.

There are now 64,689 Antigen positive cases, an increase of 1,650 in the past 24 hours.

Georgia is also reporting 9,175 confirmed deaths, an increase of 52 in the past day, and 37,321 hospitalizations, an increase of 304.

The Georgia Department of Public Health on Saturday reported an additional 4,868 cases of COVID-19. On Thursday the state reported its highest single-day rise with more than 6,000 cases.

The total number in the state is 471,734 confirmed cases. On Saturday, 31 additional confirmed deaths were reported due to the virus.

The state has now reported a total of 9,204 confirmed deaths since the start of the pandemic.

On Saturday, 229 additional hospitalizations were reported, bringing the state’s total to 37,550 since the outbreak began.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reports a grim milestone for the state: 500,265 confirmed cases. With an estimated state population in 2019 of 10.62 million, according to the U.S. Census. That means about one in every 21.2 residents here have battled with the virus. Tragically, state health officials confirm 9,396 residents died from the virus with another 936 deaths suspected to be from COVID-19.

Friday sets a new record for the highest daily total of new cases. State health officials report 6,149 new cases.

On Friday, current hospitalizations reached 3,280.

At least 7,958 new cases were confirmed Thursday.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday, 54 more people have died of the coronavirus.

Georgia has seen a total of 531,954 people test positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March. At least 9,554 people have died in the state.

The Georgia Department of Public Health on Sunday reported 2,968 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, 65 were reported in the six Southeast Georgia counties tracked by News4Jax.

As of Sunday, a total of 543,707 confirmed cases had been reported by the state Department of Public Health.

The agency on Sunday reported five additional confirmed deaths related to COVID-19, including one in Glynn County, bringing the state’s total to 9,714 confirmed deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Georgia now has more than 4,000 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with hospital admissions increasing at a pace that raises questions about hospitals' ability to handle demand.

More than 636,000 Georgians have now tested positive for the coronavirus. The state has moved into the top 20 for most new cases per capita in the last 14 days as infection rates have declined in the Midwest and risen in the South.

More than 10,000 Georgians have died from the respiratory illness.

The Department of Public Health in Georgia announced more than 9,700 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

Tuesday saw 5,931 new confirmed cases and 3,777 Antigen positive cases.

That brings the statewide total to 552,712 confirmed cases and 92,978 Antigen positive cases.

Georgia is also reporting 9,759 confirmed deaths, an increase of 41 in the past day, and 41,403 hospitalizations, an increase of 451.

Saturday saw 6,606 new confirmed cases and 1,127 Antigen positive cases.

That brings the statewide total to 581,999 confirmed cases and 103,123 Antigen positive cases.

Georgia is also reporting 9,891 confirmed deaths, an increase of 2 in the past day, and 42,427 hospitalizations, an increase of 65.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 5,088 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Sunday, Jan. 3.

This brings the total to 587,076 confirmed cases in the state since the pandemic began. At least 9,893 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported across the state. 3 new deaths were reported on Sunday.

Georgia again spiked above 6,000 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday as nearly every county in the Augusta area saw increases and Augusta hospitals saw record numbers of patients. Georgia also identified its first case of a new strain of the virus that is more infectious.

Georgia added 6,102 new cases Tuesday for a total of 597,208, with 66 new deaths for a total of 9,966, the Department of Public Health reported.

As of 3 p.m., the Georgia Department of Public Health reports more than 600,000 confirmed cases now in the state. The total is 602,796.

The GDPH also reports confirmed deaths have surpassed 10,000. The total is 10,035. There have also been 1,130 probable deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic.

Hospitalization also broke a record for the second day in a row. The state reports 5,414 patients were currently hospitalized as of Wednesday afternoon. That is about 31.5% of all patients hospitalized as facilities report they are at or near capacity. A total of 43,629 people have had to be hospitalized because of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

There have been 609,868 cases confirmed in Georgia, an increase of 7,072 since the previous day.

There have been 43,796 total patients hospitalized in Georgia during the pandemic, an increase of 167 since the previous day according to the Department of Public Health's cumulative total.

According to Georgia's new database, as of Jan. 7, there were 5,405 current hospitalizations – an decrease of 9 hospitalizations from the previous day.

Georgia confirmed 10,393 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, setting the highest single-day total since the pandemic began.

Friday’s total surpasses the previous record set on New Year’s Day by over 1,600 cases. The state’s total is now 620,247 with a 10.5% positive rate.

Georgia also reported 80 new deaths that brings the state total up to 10,180 confirmed deaths.

On Saturday, the DPH reported more than 6,950 new coronavirus cases, 154 more deaths and 307 new hospitalizations. Since the pandemic began, the state has recorded nearly 675,000 coronavirus cases, more than 46,500 hospitalizations and 11,029 deaths.

Statewide, nine out of 10 ICU beds are full, and nearly half of those patients have COVID-19, according to state and federal hospital records.

As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported 170 new confirmed deaths in the last 24 hours. That brings the total to 11,265 confirmed deaths and 1,317 probable deaths. The data shows an average of 93 deaths per day for the last 14 days or 1,299 total in the same time.

Hospitalizations have seen some relief, but still many facilities are still at or near capacity with 32.6% of all patients statewide suffering from coronavirus symptoms. As of Tuesday afternoon, the GDPH reports 5,515 COVID-19 were in Georgia's hospitals. A total of 47,006 Georgians has been hospitalized so far since the start of the pandemic.

There has been an average of 6,605 new COVID-19 cases each day for the last 14 days or 92,468 total in that same time. About 18% of COVID-19 cases have happened since the New Year. There has been a total of 689,676 so far since the start of the pandemic.

Those numbers do not include the 138,768 total cases confirmed by way of antigen testing.

The Georgia Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 5,772 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19.

On Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Public Health Daily Status Report showed a total of 5,499 confirmed cases in Glynn County, but on Wednesday, the report showed a total of 5,412 confirmed cases in the county -- a decrease of 87 cases.

As of Wednesday, a total of 695,400 confirmed cases had been reported by the state Department of Public Health.

The agency on Wednesday reported 149 additional confirmed deaths related to COVID-19, including one in Glynn County and one in Pierce County, bringing the state’s total to 11,411 confirmed deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Georgia was reporting a total of 141,249 antigen positive cases and 1,367 “probable” deaths on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, 305 additional hospitalizations were reported, bringing the state’s total to 47,311 since the outbreak began.
