Nevada health officials reported an increase of 1,856 confirmed COVID-19 cases Sunday, bringing the total number of known cases to 217,509 since the pandemic began.

Nine additional deaths were reported Sunday, bringing the total to 2,952.

An update from the state Department of Health and Human Services reported 868 new cases and 21 additional deaths over the preceding day.

Those figures brought statewide totals to 218,377 cases and 2,973 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in early March.

Meanwhile, hospitalizations rose in the state, according to the state data, with 1,899 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients occupying staffed beds. That was up from 1,819 the previous day.

As of Sunday, 85 percent of licensed hospital beds and 75 percent of intensive care beds in Southern Nevada were occupied, according to the Nevada Hospital Association.

Nevada reached a grim milestone on Tuesday as it surpassed 3,000 COVID-19-related deaths with the addition of 46 in the last day, data shows.

There have been 697 deaths this month due to COVID-19. The virus is the leading cause of death in Nevada for December, state health officials noted Tuesday.

The 1,747 new COVID-19 cases reported statewide on Monday brought Nevada’s total to 220,124.

Hospitalizations increased for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, with a total of 1,929 COVID-19 patients. This is up from 1,899 on Sunday. The number of ICU beds used by COVID-19 patients decreased by 13, bringing the statewide total to 414 in the latest COVID-19 report from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.

The number of hospitalizations increased by 30 in the last day, and the current total is 1,929 confirmed/suspected cases.

In its Dec. 28 report, the Nevada Hospital Association states: “Hospitals remain near 74-80%
capacity in both ward and intensive care occupancy. PPE and ventilator status remain good. Staffing remains a challenge in the urban centers throughout the state.”

COVID-19 has been accounting for approximately 17 to 20% of daily emergency department visits over the past 60 days, the NHA reports.

Nevada reported 47 deaths in the past 24 hours and hospitalizations continue to climb, according to data released on Wednesday.

There have been 704 deaths this month due to COVID-19.

Hospitalizations increased for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, with a total of 1,988 COVID-19 patients and climbing again toward record territory.

The 2,470 new COVID-19 cases reported statewide on Tuesday brought Nevada’s total to 222,594. Clark County reported 2,057 new cases, for a total of 168,342.

More than 1,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in Nevada in 55 of the past 57 days.

The number of hospitalizations increased by 59 in the last day, and the current total is 1,988 confirmed/suspected cases.

Nevada ended 2020 by reporting a record 59 deaths in a single day from the coronavirus, according to state data posted Thursday.

The agency also reported 2,137 additional cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

The updated figures pushed the totals for the state to 222,594 cases and 3,066 deaths.

There were 1,927 people hospitalized throughout Nevada with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases, which is 61 fewer than the previous day, according to state data.

The virus continues to strain hospital intensive care units, with 74 percent of all Nevada adult ICU beds occupied, according to data from the Nevada Hospital Association. About 38 percent of licensed ICU beds are being occupied by COVID-19 patients.

Nevada health officials are reporting 2,315 new cases of COVID-19 as the new year begins, along with 21 new deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus.

Updated Friday, the state's totals are now 227,046 cumulative cases and 3,146 deaths, per the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.

For hospitalizations, there were 1,871 patients statewide with either confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, per data from the Nevada Hospital Association.

That number is a decrease of 56 from the hospitalization total reported the previous day.

Of Thursday's patients, 398 were in intensive care, a decrease of six from Wednesday.

Nevada reports a record-high 60 COVID-19-related deaths and nearly 2,000 additional positive tests, data released Wednesday shows.

The 1,938 new COVID-19 cases reported statewide on Tuesday brought Nevada’s total to 237,393.

According to the state’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the number of hospitalized patients in Nevada was UP on Tuesday, according to data released Wednesday.

The number of hospitalizations increased by 52 in the last day, and the current total is 1,919 confirmed/suspected cases.

There were 411 patients in intensive care units (ICU) across the state, a decrease of four from Monday.

The DHHS report showed 280 patients on ventilators, up two from Monday.

There are now 237,393 confirmed cases and 3,295 COVID-19-related deaths in Nevada, with 1,938 new cases reported in the last day.

Nevada reported a record number 3,402 new coronavirus cases over the preceding day, according to state data posted Thursday, raising concerns that a predicted “surge on top of a surge” could be developing.

The number of new cases reported Thursday was almost double the two-week moving average of new cases — 1,648 — calculated by the state.

The state also reported 44 new deaths from COVID-19, far higher than the moving 14-day daily average of 18.

The updated figures brought totals in the state to 240,795 cases and 3,339 deaths.

Hospitalizations of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients declined by one over the preceding day, to 1,918, according to the state data.

About 81 percent of adult intensive care beds in Southern Nevada were occupied as of Thursday, and about 45 percent of ICU patients in the region are hospitalized for COVID-19, according to data from the Nevada Hospital Association.

Throughout the state, 74 percent of ICU beds were occupied as of Thursday. Of all intensive care patients in the state, 39 percent are hospitalized for COVID-19.

Nevada public health officials on Monday reported 1,681 new coronavirus cases, pushing the cumulative total in the state since the outbreak began in early March past the 250,000 threshold.

Updated data from the state Department of Health and Human Services also reflected 33 additional deaths over the preceding day, raising the death toll from COVID-19 to 3,500. Nevada had been averaging 19 deaths a day over the preceding 14 days, the data shows.

New cases, meantime, were lower than the rolling two-week average of 1,866 new cases per day, but increased the total reported by the state to 250,249.

The new numbers from the state also showed 1,777 confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients were hospitalized throughout the state, down 18 from the preceding day.

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services reported 71 coronavirus-related deaths and 1,171 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The one-day death count surpasses the previous high of 63, set on Saturday.

New cases of the coronavirus continued a downward trend on Wednesday, with 1,171 new diagnoses -- down slightly from Tuesday's total of 1,178 cases, and was the lowest total since Dec. 22's count of 1,090.

Patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nevada hospitals also trended lower, with 1,502 — down from a late-December peak of 1,867.
