COVID-19 cases in Nevada spiked to their greatest one day increase since Aug. 28, according to data released on Friday by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
The state reported 556 new cases and nine deaths.
The Regional Information Center reported 162 new cases on Friday, the third-highest one day increase in cases since tracking began.
State data showed 602 additional cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, the highest number of new cases reported in Nevada in the past month.
Nine more deaths also were reported, according to data posted to the Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website. The figures brought totals in the state to 78,355 cases and 1,582 fatalities.
Saturday showed the largest increase in cases since Aug. 29, when 609 new cases were reported.
The state reported 373 new COVID-19 cases and three coronavirus-related deaths on Sunday, according to the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
There have been 78,728 coronavirus cases reported since tracking efforts were put in place. A majority of the cases have been concentrated in Clark County. Washoe County holds the second-highest concentration of cases.
State officials reported 392 new cases of the coronavirus and three additional deaths in Nevada as of Sunday morning.
That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 82,100 and the death toll to 1,623, according to the Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website.

There were 133 patients in intensive care units (ICU) across the state Friday, up six from the previous day.
The DHHS report showed 64 patients on ventilators, up 1 from the previous day.

Over the past few weeks, the state has seen an uptick in the number of COVID-19-related deaths.
The state saw the largest single-day increase in coronavirus-related deaths in more than a month on Wednesday, with 17 reported.
The increase in fatalities marked the highest spike since Sept. 4, when 18 deaths were reported in Nevada, according to state data.
In addition to the deaths, an additional 479 new cases were reported in the state. The updated figures posted to the Department of Health and Human Services’ website brought totals in the state to 87,314 cases and 1,691 deaths.

The message that both the Governor and the Health District reiterated today is that people need to get their flu shots and continue to be diligent when it comes to wearing masks, social distancing and practicing good hygiene.

The 1,146 additional cases and five additional deaths reported Saturday by the Department of Health and Human Services increased the state's totals to 94,812 cases and 1,743 deaths.

Thursday’s updated figures brought totals in the state to 98,554 cases and 1,769 deaths.
