Arizona continued to rank highest nationwide for its weekly COVID-19 case and death rates as the state reported 5,321 new cases and one new known death on Monday.

The state's average daily COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people over the past seven days also ranked first in the nation as of Sunday, per the CDC.

Arizona on Friday surpassed 12,000 known deaths from the virus, just one week after it passed 11,000, which came six days after the state reported 10,000 deaths. Arizona's first known death from the disease occurred in mid-March.

The Arizona data dashboard shows 91% of all ICU beds and 90% of all inpatient beds in the state were in use Sunday, with 57% of ICU beds and 49% of non-ICU beds occupied by COVID-19 patients. Statewide, 161 ICU beds and 867 non-ICU beds were available.

The number of patients with suspected or known COVID-19 in ICUs across Arizona was at 1,027 on Sunday, below the record high of 1,183 on Jan. 11.

Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators tallied 702 on Sunday, below the record-high 821 reached on Jan. 13.

Sunday saw 1,834 patients in the emergency room for COVID-19, below the Dec. 29 single-day record of 2,341 positive or suspected COVID-19 patients seen in emergency departments across the state.

New cases in Arizona have eclipsed 5,000 for 27 of the past 30 days.

Monday's 5,321 new cases brought the total number of identified COVID-19 cases in the state to 727,895. As of Monday, 12,239 Arizonans are known to have died from the disease, according to the data dashboard from ADHS. Few new deaths are typically reported on Mondays.

The state’s documented totals moved to 743,232 infections and 12,819 fatalities, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 dashboard.

The number of Arizona’s confirmed or suspected COVID-19 inpatients fell to 4,087 on Wednesday, the fewest since Dec. 21. The number of ICU beds used by COVID-19 patients dropped to 1,023, the fewest since Dec. 27.

Statewide, COVID-19 patients took up 47% of all inpatient beds and 57% of all ICU beds on Wednesday. Overall, inpatient beds and ICU beds were at 91% of capacity each.

Arizona had the worst COVID-19 diagnosis rating among U.S. states over the past week when one in every 153 residents was reported to be newly infected.

Arizona reported Wednesday another relatively low number of new COVID-19 cases, at 2,296, and a high 214 new known deaths as hospitalizations continued to moderate but remain at high levels.

Arizona's newly reported 214 deaths brought the known COVID-19 death count to 13,576. The state surpassed 13,000 deaths on Friday, just one week after it passed 12,000 and two weeks after 11,000 deaths. The state exceeded 10,000 known deaths on Jan. 9. Arizona's first known death from the disease occurred in mid-March.

In about one year since the first case was announced in Arizona, a total of 767,379 COVID-19 cases have been identified across the state.

The Arizona data dashboard shows 89% of all ICU beds and 90% of all inpatient beds in the state were in use Tuesday, with 53% of ICU beds and 40% of non-ICU beds occupied by COVID-19 patients. Statewide, 195 ICU beds and 853 non-ICU beds were available.

The number of patients hospitalized in Arizona for known or suspected COVID-19 cases was at 3,456 on Tuesday, below the record 5,082 inpatients on Jan. 11.

The number of patients with suspected or known COVID-19 in ICUs across Arizona was at 955 on Tuesday, below the record high of 1,183 on Jan. 11.

Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators tallied 646 on Tuesday, below the record-high 821 reached on Jan. 13.

The Arizona data dashboard shows 87% of all ICU beds and 88% of all inpatient beds in the state were in use Saturday, with 23% of ICU beds and 15% of non-ICU beds occupied by COVID-19 patients. Statewide, 234 ICU beds and 1,046 non-ICU beds were available.

The total number of patients hospitalized in Arizona for known or suspected COVID-19 cases was at 1,251 on Saturday, down from Friday's 1,317 inpatients and far below the record 5,082 inpatients on Jan. 11.

The number of patients with suspected or known COVID-19 in ICUs across Arizona was at 402 on Saturday, down from 419 on Thursday and 415 on Friday, well below the record high of 1,183 on Jan. 11.

Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators tallied 210 on Saturday, down from 220 on Friday and well below the record high 821 reached on Jan. 13.

Saturday saw 1,039 patients in the emergency room for COVID-19, below the Dec. 29 single-day record of 2,341 positive or suspected COVID-19 patients seen in emergency departments across the state.

Arizona public health officials on Monday reported 1,039 new coronavirus cases and no additional deaths from COVID-19.

The state’s documented totals were updated to 817,821 coronavirus infections and 15,979 fatalities, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 dashboard.

The number of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 inpatients in the state’s hospitals decreased to 1,241 on Sunday, the fewest since Nov. 8. The number of ICU beds used by COVID-19 patients fell to 382, the fewest since Nov. 15.
