The North Dakota Department of Health Thursday morning confirmed 226 new cases of COVID-19 in the state during testing December 23, bringing the total positives since testing began to 90,948.

The number of currently active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 2,321 as of December 23.

17 new deaths were reported

A total of 1,260 people have died so far in North Dakota as a result of COVID-19.

Of those, 1,038 are directly attributable to COVID-19 according to official death records. Another 205 deaths are where COVID-19 is not the primary cause of death. A total of 22 death records are pending.

122 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 as of December 23, up 4 from December 22. A total of 3,472 have been hospitalized since reporting began in March.

The number of currently active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 2,329 as of December 24 and 25. That’s up 8 cases from December 23.

4 new deaths were reported

A total of 1,264 people have died so far in North Dakota as a result of COVID-19.

Of those, 1,053 are directly attributable to COVID-19 according to official death records. Another 207 deaths are where COVID-19 is not the primary cause of death. A total of 4 death records are pending.

111 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 as of December 24 and 25, down 11 from December 23. A total of 3,472 have been hospitalized since reporting began in March.

Ten more North Dakotans have died with COVID-19

Hospitalizations fell by two Thursday to 94, the second day in a row in which there have been fewer than 100 people in North Dakota hospitals due to the virus.

The health department reported another 303 cases of COVID-19 Thursday, raising the state's active case count by 68 to 1,889. Since the start of the pandemic, 92,495 North Dakotans have tested positive.
