One new death was reported by the South Dakota Department of Health in Sunday’s update.

The death toll is now at 943. There have been 528 deaths reported since Nov. 1.

On Sunday, 801 new total coronavirus cases were reported bringing the state’s total case count to 79,900 up from Saturday (79,099). Total recovered cases are now at 62,027, up from Saturday (61,051).

Current hospitalizations are at 544, up from Saturday (539). Total hospitalized are now at 4,468, up from Saturday (4,400).

On Wednesday, South Dakota reported 47 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing its death toll to a total of 995 across the state. South Dakota saw a 47 percent increase in deaths over the past two weeks, remaining consistent with the data from two weeks prior, which came to a 46 percent increase.

South Dakota also has the highest rate of hospitalizations per capita in the nation—with Indiana in second place—based on data from the COVID Tracking Project.

As South Dakota continues grappling with COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations, Noem has consistently opposed a statewide mask mandate despite the state having the worst COVID-19 spikes in the nation.

South Dakota reported 38 more COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, pushing the state’s death toll past 1,000.

A total of 1,033 South Dakotans have died from the coronavirus since the pandemic began.

The Department of Health reported 1,145 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the total known South Dakota cases to 83,348. Active cases rose by more than 600 to 15,474.

The number of people currently hospitalized with the disease rose by seven to 538. COVID-19 patients occupy 19% of the state’s hospital beds and 52% of the state’s ICU beds. Officials say 33% of hospital beds and 13% of ICU beds are still available.

Thirty-one new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Friday’s update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The death toll is now at 1,064. There have been 118 deaths reported in December.

On Friday, 1,050 new total coronavirus cases were announced, bringing the state’s total case count to 84,398, up from Thursday (83,348).

Active cases are at 15,925, up from Thursday (15,474).

Current hospitalizations are now at 516, down from Thursday (538). Total hospitalizations are at 4,748, up from Thursday (4,696). The DOH says 13 percent of all adult ICU beds are available. The state website says 111 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

The death toll is now at 1,091. There have been 145 deaths reported in December.

On Saturday, 906 new total coronavirus cases were announced, bringing the state’s total case count to 85,304, up from Friday (84,398).

Active cases are at 16,202, up from Friday (15,925).

Current hospitalizations are now at 512, down from Friday (516). Total hospitalizations are at 4,793, up from Friday (4,748).

The DOH says 21.8-percent of all adult ICU beds are available. The state website says 110 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

An additional 46 South Dakotans died from COVID-19 over the weekend, including one in Brown County on Saturday.

On Sunday, there were 687 additional new confirmed and probable cases reported, bringing the state up to 16,432 active cases.

The South Dakota Department of Health also reported 19 deaths, Sunday.

Currently, there are 497 South Dakotans hospitalized with COVID-19 complications, down from Saturday’s total of 512.

The South Dakota Department of Health reports that 39.4% of the state’s supply of hospital beds remains available. Staffed adult intensive care unit beds capacity is currently at 23.6%

The South Dakota Department of Health reported 509 new COVID-19 cases Monday as active cases near 17,000.

The 509 new cases bring the state total to 86,450. Of those, 16,432 are currently active.

Over the weekend, 19 lives were lost due to COVID-19-related complications, according to the state. On Monday, 1,110 South Dakotans make up the death toll.

The number of people currently hospitalized by the disease fell by 22 to 516. COVID-19 patients currently occupy 18% of the state’s hospital beds and 43% of the state’s ICU beds. Officials say 40% of hospital beds and 29% of ICU beds are still available.

On Tuesday, 539 new coronavirus cases were announced bringing the state’s total case out to 87,039, up from Monday (86,500).

There are 491 current hospitalizations, down from Monday (503). Total hospitalizations are now at 4,921, up from Monday (4,872).

Thirty-six additional people with COVID-19 have died, the South Dakota Department of Health reported Wednesday, bringing the death toll from the pandemic in the state to 1,147.

The state also reported 985 new confirmed coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 88,024. The new cases brought the seven-day rolling average to 832. The maximum seven-day rolling average for new cases was hit on November 14 at 1,458. Wednesday's new infections were discovered through 6,342 new tests.

Twelve additional people were hospitalized with the disease, bringing the total to 501. So far 4,974 people with COVID-19 have received hospital care in the state since the start of the pandemic in March. Of the 501 people in the hospital, 102 occupied intensive care beds and 56 were on ventilators.

Thirty additional South Dakotans were reported by the Department of Health on Thursday to have died with COVID-19.

Since the start of the pandemic in March, 1,177 South Dakotans have died.

The state reported an additional 704 infections, pushing the total to 88,023. That figure means 10% of the state’s population has knowingly been infected by the coronavirus.

The number of people hospitalized statewide decreased to 491. So far 5,025 South Dakotans with COVID-19 have received hospital care.

Another 33 people with COVID-19 were reported by the South Dakota Department of Health to have died Friday, brining total deaths in the state to 1,210.

The department also reported 945 new positive infections, bringing the total known cases to 89,672. The new positive infections were found from 7,244 new tests, one of the state's biggest single-day testing numbers.

Those hospitalized with coronavirus decreased by 24, to 467.

Ninety-one of those patients were receiving intensive care, with 55 on ventilators.

16 COVID-19 deaths were reported as new confirmed cases and active cases decreased in Sunday’s update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The death toll is now at 1,259. There have been 313 deaths reported in December. The new deaths were 11 men and 5 women in the following age ranges: 40-49 (1); 70-79 (2); and 80+ (13).

On Sunday , 632 new coronavirus cases were announced bringing the state’s total case count to 91,038, up from Saturday (89,672).

Active cases are now at 12,747, down from Saturday (12,917).

Current hospitalizations are now at 436, down from Friday(452). Total hospitalizations are now at 5,174, up from Saturday (5,125).

On Monday, 317 new total coronavirus cases were reported bringing the state’s total case count to 91,354, up from Sunday (91,038). Total recovered cases are now at 77,472, up from Sunday (77,032).

Active cases are now at 12,623, down from Sunday (12,747). Until this weekend, South Dakota hasn’t been under 13,000 active cases since late October.

Current hospitalizations are now at 441, up from Sunday (436). Total hospitalizations are at 5,200, up from Sunday (5,174).

On Wednesday, 905 new total coronavirus cases were reported bringing the state’s total case count to 92,603, up from Tuesday (91,699).

Active cases are now at 10,987, down from Tuesday (11,519).

Current hospitalizations are now at 412, down from Tuesday (435). Total hospitalizations are at 5,265, up from Tuesday (5,242).

The death toll is now at 1,301. There have been 355 deaths reported in December. The new death was listed as a woman in the 70-79 age range.

On Thursday, 594 new total coronavirus cases were reported bringing the state’s total case count to 93,197, up from Wednesday (92,603).

Active cases are now at 8,756, down from Wednesday (10,987).

Current hospitalizations are now at 406, down from Wednesday (412). Total hospitalizations are at 5,317, up from Wednesday (5,265).

Another 28 South Dakotans died from COVID-19, the South Dakota Department of Health reported Friday, as 575 new infections were reported.

The new deaths bring the total to 1,329.

The new infections brought the statewide total to 93,772, and were detected from 5,108 new tests.

The new infections left the state with 8,773 active infections.

The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 dropped to 387, a decrease of 19 from the previous 24-hour report. Of those reported in the hospital in Friday’s report, 73 were receiving intensive care treatment and 41 were on ventilators.

South Dakota reports 21 COVID-19 related deaths and confirmed 564 new cases on Saturday.

The total number of active cases in the state fell by 277 cases to 8,496 while number of currently hospitalized decreased 22 to 365, the Department of Health reports.

Available hospital beds in the state are at 37.6% while available adult ICU beds are 31.6%, DOH said.

South Dakota reported 11 people died from COVID-19 as the Department of Health reported 391 new cases on Sunday.

There are now 8,270 active coronavirus cases in South Dakota. The 11 newly reported deaths bring the total since the start of the pandemic to 1,361.

The state reported that the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 decreased by 20 in the last day to 345.

Just over 42.2% of hospital beds are available in the state as of Sunday’s report. There are only 35.2% of adult ICU beds available in the state.

No new deaths were reported Tuesday as South Dakota reported less than 8,000 active coronavirus cases for the first time since mid-October.

The death toll is at 1,381. There have been 435 deaths reported in December.

In Tuesday’s update from the South Dakota Department of Health, 436 new total coronavirus cases were reported bringing the state’s total case count to 95,509, up from Monday (95,074).

Active cases are now at 7,627, up from Monday (8,373). South Dakota was last under 8,000 active cases on Oct. 17.

Current hospitalizations are now at 341, down from Monday (344). Total hospitalizations are at 5,461, up from Monday (5,429).

Another 41 people with COVID-19 have died in South Dakota, the Department of Health reported Thursday, as active cases and hospitalizations continue to decline.

The additional deaths bring the state up to 1,430 deaths among people who had COVID-19.

The state reported 500 new cases Thursday.

Hospitalizations decreased by 25 people to 312 currently hospitalized, with 11% of staffed hospital beds and 28% of staffed ICU beds being occupied by COVID-19 patients.

Active cases decreased by just over 200 to 7,098, and recoveries increased by 681.

South Dakota reported 16 COVID-19 related deaths and 417 new confirmed cases on Saturday, according to the state's Department of Health.

The deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic total 1,446.

Hospitalizations continue to decrease, falling by 23 to 289, the DOH reports. While active cases continue to fall with 7,089 reported on Saturday, a drop of nine reported on Christmas Eve.

Current hospitalizations are at 274, down from Saturday’s update (289). Total hospitalized are now at 5,561, up from Saturday’s update (5,533).

The state has 6,523 active cases compared to 6,695 on Sunday.

Deaths remain at 1,446.

There are 288 people hospitalized and 5,583 ever hospitalized.
