As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the Iowa DPH website reports 262,210 confirmed cases statewide since Iowa’s outbreak began, with an additional 1,983 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.

The Iowa DPH reported 97 additional COVID-19 deaths for a statewide death toll of 3,451.

Of Iowa’s pandemic-related deaths, COVID-19 is reported as the underlying cause for 3,169 deaths. For 282 Iowans, COVID-19 was a contributing factor to their deaths.

Iowa DPH reports 746 hospitalizations, of which 146 patients are in intensive care units. Iowa hospitals admitted 95 patients in the last 24 hours, compared to 108 hospitalizations the day before.

Another 71 people died in Iowa of the coronavirus and there were more than 1,400 new confirmed cases of the virus, the state reported Thursday.

In the last 24 hours as of Thursday morning, the additional deaths raised the total number of virus-related deaths to 3,739, according to the Department of Public Health.

There were 1,425 new confirmed cases, increasing the total to 272,444.

Iowa reported 1,470 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Friday and five deaths, according to Iowa Department of Public Health data analyzed by The Gazette.

Included in that new tally are 219 positive cases among children under the age of 17, bringing that total to 28,470, and two cases among education workers for a total of 7,667.

The new numbers bring the state’s total of cases to 273,916 and the death toll to 3,744.

State hospitalizations were at 600 on Friday, down from 625 on Thursday.

Intensive-care patients dropped from 127 to 121 in the 24-hour period, and patients on ventilators dipped from 70 to 69.

The Iowa Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 1,652 new positive COVID-19 cases and 10 additional deaths.

As of 10 a.m., the health department reported 278,600 total positive cases, 236,656 total recoveries and 3,822 total deaths since the pandemic began. Of the state’s 3,822 deaths, 3,507 list COVID-19 as the underlying cause, while 315 list it as a contributing factor.

There are currently 612 patients hospitalized with the virus, down from 620 a day earlier. There were 105 patients hospitalized in the last 24 hours, up from 77 the previous day. Iowa lists 127 patients in intensive care and 66 patients on ventilators.

The state reports approximately 2,960 hospital beds, 371 ICU beds and 877 ventilators available. Hospitalization analysis shows 403 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 as a primary diagnosis, while 209 were hospitalized for another reason but tested positive.

Iowa reported 605 new COVID-19 cases and 46 new confirmed deaths in the past 24 hours, according to data from the Iowa Department of Public Health.

As of 11 a.m. Monday, 29,728 children have tested positive for the virus and 7,673 education workers have been infected.

Hospitalizations in Iowa saw a slight decline, dipping from 577 to 571. The number of patients being treated in intensive care units decreased from 120 to 117. Patients that required ventilators to help them breathe increased marginally from 52 to 55.

Iowa reported seven additional coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday.

Iowa’s per-capita death rate moved up one notch to the 14th highest in the nation with 126.5 deaths per 100,000 people, according to researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

Recently updated state data shows 3,952 people died overall in November, the highest single-month death total for the state.

State public health officials reported 1,813 new confirmed coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday morning as virus spread appears to be increasing again.

The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 59 additional COVID-19-related and 2,058 more Iowans tested positive for the virus.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Friday, the state’s data shows a total of 293,452 Iowans have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began. A total of 4,124 Iowans have died with COVID-19.

The state’s data shows COVID-19 was the underlying cause of 3,777 of the reported deaths, and COVID-19 was a contributing factor in 347 of the reported deaths.

The state reported 579 people are in the hospital with the virus. That number is down from 613 reported on Thursday. An additional 89 patients were admitted to hospitals with the virus over the last 24 hours. There are 108 people in the ICU and 51 on ventilators.

Iowa recorded 1,899 new positive cases for the novel coronavirus as of 11 a.m. Saturday for the 24-hour period. Almost 13 percent of those new cases — 244 — were children under the age of 18.

Three new confirmed deaths were related to COVID-19, according to data from the Iowa Department of Public Health’s website and analyzed by The Gazette. That makes a total of 4,127 Iowa deaths connected to the virus.

Hospitalizations statewide at of 11 a.m. Saturday declined by 30 from Friday’s recorded numbers, to 549. Forty-seven patients were on ventilators, and 110 were being treated in intensive care.

As of 10 a.m., the state reported 296,441 total cases, 255,597 total recoveries and 4,138 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. The health department reported 295,111 total cases and 4,127 total deaths a day earlier.

There are now 541 hospitalized, down from 549 a day earlier. There were 72 patients hospitalized in the last 24 hours, down from 75 a day earlier. There are 105 patients in ICU and 41 patients on ventilators.
