There were 450 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 345,359.

The state’s death toll is 5,672, which is the same number as reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (327,645) and the number of deaths (5,672) from the total number of cases (345,359) shows there are currently 12,042 active positive cases in the state.

As of Saturday morning, there were 38 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 172, a decrease from 189 hospitalized the day before. Of those, 38 are in the ICU (down from 44), and 20 are on ventilators (down from 21).

The Iowa Department of Public Health's COVID-19 data shows an increase of 633 people reported to have tested positive for coronavirus from 10:00 a.m. on March 24 to 10:00 a.m. on March 25. Those new cases come from 3,076 new individuals tested for the virus. There were 14,952 new tests added over those 24 hours.

Six new deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours - with 5,689 Iowans now dead from the virus in the pandemic.

347,702 people have tested positive for the virus out of 1,623,127 individuals tested since the pandemic reached Iowa in March 2020. The state reports 4,375,038 tests administered since then.

IDPH now lists 207 people hospitalized in Iowa because of COVID-19 (+17). It's the first time hospitalizations have been over 200 since March 1. 46 of those patients are in the ICU (+6) and 17 are on a ventilator (-2). 46 new patients were admitted in the last 24-hour period measured by the state (+10).

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state were 376,818, up 953 from Thursday, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported.

The state reported eight COVID-19 deaths Friday, bringing the total number of Iowans who have died from coronavirus-related illness to 5,716.

Also as of Friday, the state reported 207 people were hospitalized with 38 of those admitted in the last 24 hours. Intensive care units housed 46 people, with 14 people on ventilators.

The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 555 new positive COVID-19 tests and no additional deaths Wednesday.

At 10 a.m., the health department reported 379,215 total positive tests, 332,970 total recoveries and 5,729 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. The health department reported 378,660 total positive tests and 5,729 total deaths 24 hours earlier.

There are now 191 patients hospitalized with the virus, up from 186 a day earlier. There are 38 patients in ICU and 11 patients on ventilators.

Iowa on Tuesday added 507 new COVID-19 cases and 13 new, confirmed deaths.

The numbers bring state totals to 353,901 cases and 5,835 deaths since last March, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The 13 deaths reported Tuesday occurred between Feb. 9 and Sunday.

Across the state, 217 individuals were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Tuesday, the highest number since 227 on Feb. 25.

Patients in intensive care increased from 47 to 52, and patients on ventilators increased from 23 to 27.

Most of Iowa is at substantial or high risk of COVID-19 transmission

"I'm not going to mandate it," said Reynolds. "I don't believe in that. I think we've seen great numbers from a voluntary perspective."

Reynolds said 62% of Iowans 18 and older are fully vaccinated and 66% have at least one dose.

Reynolds called the CDC's masking guidance counterproductive to vaccination efforts and not grounded in reality or common sense.
