The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 8,828 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 as well as 181 additional coronavirus deaths Thursday.

Coronavirus hospitalizations are also declining in Illinois, with the IDPH reporting 4,751 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Wednesday night, including 1,056 in intensive care and 575 on ventilators.

Illinois health officials reported 7,377 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 Friday, along with 181 additional deaths.

Now reporting 15,015 deaths from COVID-19, Illinois is the 6th state to report 15,000 or more deaths, following New York, Texas, California, Florida and New Jersey.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 886,805 cases, including 15,015 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.

As of Thursday night, 4,690 people in Illinois were reported to hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 1,023 patients were in the ICU and 589 patients were on ventilators.

Illinois health officials on Saturday announced 7,562 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 108 additional fatalities, bringing the total number of known infections in Illinois to 894,367 and the statewide death toll to 15,123 since the start of the pandemic.

Saturday is also the 12th day in a row with more than 100 fatalities.

A day earlier, the state surpassed 15,000 recorded deaths, just one week after the Illinois’s death toll climbed above 14,000.

More than 6,000 new confirmed and probable cases of the coronavirus were reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Sunday. Also, an additional 79 deaths were added as well.

In Illinois, there have been 900,370 cases and 15,202 deaths attributed to COVID-19. As of Saturday night, 4,389 Illinois residents were reported hospitalized. Of those, 991 patients were in the ICU and 546 patients were on ventilators.

On Monday, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 4,699 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in the state, including 98 additional deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, Illinois has reported a total of 905,069 COVID-19 cases, including 15,299 deaths.

As of Sunday night, 4,460 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Illinois.

Of these, 981 were in the intensive care unit and 546 were on ventilators.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,239 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, as well as 116 related deaths.

The state is now averaging about 130 COVID-19 deaths over a seven-day period, below the peak of more than 150 seen two weeks ago but still above the highest levels seen in the spring.

The announce came after Illinois public health officials Wednesday announced 6,762 new and probable cases of COVID-19. The total number of known infections in Illinois was 918,070 since March. The state also announced 135 additional fatalities, bringing the statewide death toll to 15,547 since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials Thursday said another 7,037 people in Illinois have tested positive for the coronavirus, slashing the state’s testing positivity rate to its lowest point since late October.

Health officials also said another 96 deaths from the virus were recorded in the last day, including 35 Chicago area people — the youngest, a woman in her 40s.

Daily deaths have averaged 140 per day in December, totaling 3,300 this month alone. In November, daily deaths averaged 80 per day, with the whole month totaling about 2,500 deaths. The state has recorded 15,643 deaths from the virus since March.

As of Wednesday night, 4,488 people in Illinois were hospitalized with COVID-19, with 944 in intensive care units and 518 using ventilators.

Illinois public health officials Friday announced 5,742 new and probable cases of COVID-19. The total number of known infections in Illinois is 930,849 since the pandemic began in March.

The state reported another 156 deaths on Christmas Day. The statewide death toll is now 15,799 since the start of the pandemic.

That brings the number of Illinois cases to 932,142, including 15,865 deaths in 102 counties, according to the IDPH.

As of Friday night, 4,021 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19, according to public health officials. Of those, 874 patients were in the ICU and 494 people with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

Illinois’ COVID-19 testing positivity rate inched upward for a third straight day Tuesday as state public health officials announced the virus has killed 106 additional residents and spread to 5,644 more.

The number of hospitalized coronavirus patients increased slightly by Monday night up to 4,313, but that’s still down from more than 5,700 at the start of the month.

The latest death count of 106 is close to average for the state over the last week.

On the last day of 2020, health officials reported over 8,000 cases of coronavirus in Illinois, including 133 deaths.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 8,009 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

Currently, health officials report a total of 963,389 cases, including 16,490 deaths, since the pandemic began.

THE one-day death toll from the coronavirus pandemic climbed by 157 in Illinois and another 7,201 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases have been reported, the state's health department announced Friday.

In a news release the Illinois Department of Public Health said the latest one day totals bring the number of deaths since the pandemic began in 2020 to 16,647 and the number of cases climbing to 970,590.

Public health officials on Saturday announced 29 more Illinois deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 while the virus has spread to an additional 4,762 people.

Illinois started the new year with 3,799 hospitalized coronavirus patients as of Friday night.

The number of patients requiring intensive care has also steadily fallen since then along with the number on ventilators, down to 783 and 458, respectively.

The coronavirus has killed an additional 81 people in Illinois and infected another 4,469, state health officials announced Sunday.

That brings the state’s pandemic death toll to 16,755.

As of Saturday night, 3,817 people were hospitalized in Illinois with COVID-19, with 789 of those patients in intensive-care units and 462 on ventilators, officials said.
