TENNESSEE top 8 in cases/million and top 20 in deaths

The Tennessee Department of Health announced the state's highest single day of new infections Saturday: 5,071 new cases. It's the single highest daily total ever, about 40% higher than the previous record, which was 3,606 set on Oct. 23.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 278,215 with 25,463 active cases.

The state reported 49 new deaths over the last 24 hours. So far, 3,590 people in Tennessee have died of COVID-19.

There are currently 1,514 hospitalizations connected to the coronavirus in Tennessee. The state said 249,162 cases are considered recovered or inactive.

The health department reported 3,636 new cases, bringing the state to 281,851 total cases. Of those cases, 264,340 are confirmed and 17,511 are probable.

TDH also confirmed 5 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee up to 3,595 total deaths.

There are 1,490 people currently hospitalized in the state.

The mayor of Maury County said he stands by his decision not to enact a mask mandate.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 5,919 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The department said 15 additional deaths were reported.

Today's update brings the state's total number of cases to 287,770. The statewide death toll has risen to 3,610. Tennessee has 31,645 active cases.

According to the department, 1,543 are currently hospitalized across the state.

There are now 1,634 patients in Tennessee hospitals with confirmed cases of COVID-19, up from 1,553 reported the day before, according to data posted on the Tennessee Department of Health website that tracks hospitalizations.

Another 181 people are hospitalized with possible COVID diagnoses awaiting clinical confirmation, bringing the combined total to a record-setting 1,815 patients.

Intensive care unit capacity dropped slightly overnight with 242 ICU beds still being available statewide, about 12 percent of capacity, although not all of those beds may be equipped for COVID patients.

Statewide, 2,138 hospital floor beds remain available, about 19 percent of capacity.

The department reported 3,632 new cases, bringing the state to 293,381 total cases, a 1.3% day-to-day increase since Tuesday. Of the total cases, 274,508 are confirmed and 18,873 are probable. The state currently has 30,182 active cases.

Tennessee’s seven-day new cases average increased to 3,368 additional cases per day, while the 14-day new cases average increased to 2,797.

TDH also confirmed 89 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee up to 3,761 total deaths. The 89 new deaths mark the state’s highest single-day increase, surpassing the previous record of 78 deaths set on October 30.

The department reported 3,344 new cases, bringing the state to 296,725 total cases, a 1.1% day-to-day increase since Wednesday. Of the total cases, 277,081 are confirmed and 19,644 are probable. The state currently has 30,410 active cases.

Tennessee’s seven-day new cases average increased to 3,565 additional cases per day, while the 14-day new cases average increased to 2,846.

TDH also confirmed 27 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee up to 3,788 total deaths.

For the fourth day in a row, the state reported a record-high for current COVID hospitalizations. There are 1,749 people currently hospitalized in Tennessee. The number of total hospitalizations now sits at 10,950.

The state health department’s COVID-19 school dashboard shows about a thousand students tested positive for the virus last week, in addition to the more than 700 the week before, and staff totaling about 800 in the last two weeks.

The department reported 3,733 new cases, which puts Tennessee’s total case count now over 300,000. Friday’s update puts the state at 300,458 total cases, a 1.3% day-to-day increase since Thursday. Of the total cases, 280,117 are confirmed and 20,341 are probable. There are currently 31,147 active cases.

Tennessee’s seven-day new cases average increased to 3,902 additional cases per day, while the 14-day new cases average increased to 2,926.

TDH also confirmed 64 additional deaths, bringing total deaths to 3,852 statewide. Friday’s update makes this the deadliest week for the state since the beginning of the pandemic with 262 deaths reported since Sunday. This replaces the record of 253 set only two weeks ago.

For the fifth day in a row, the state reported a record-high number of current COVID hospitalizations. There are 1,792 people currently hospitalized in Tennessee. The number of total hospitalizations now sits at 11,055.

The health department reported 4,662 new cases, bringing the state to 305,120 total cases. Of those cases, 284,173 are confirmed and 20,947 are probable.

TDH also confirmed 25 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee up to 3,877 total deaths.

There are 1,868 people currently hospitalized in the state.

Due to climbing COVID-19 case counts across the state, Sumner Regional Medical Center has reached capacity. Hospital officials told News 2 it is diverting patients with the virus to other hospitals. Tennessee Hospital Association President and CEO Wendy Long said this is often not only because of a lack of ICU beds, but staffing as well.

The department reported 7,951 new cases, putting the state at 318,888 total cases, a 2.6% day-to-day increase since Sunday. Of the total cases, 296,654 are confirmed and 22,234 are probable. There are currently 43,101 active cases.

The 7,951 new-case number is the state’s highest single-day increase of cases, surpassing the previous record of 5,919 set on Nov. 9.

Tennessee’s seven-day new cases average increased to 4,445 additional cases per day, while the 14-day new cases average increased to 3,879.

TDH also confirmed 30 additional deaths, bringing total deaths to 3,923 statewide.

The department reported 4,472 new cases, putting the state at 325,201 total cases, a 1.4% day-to-day increase since Tuesday. Of the total cases, 301,901 are confirmed and 23,300 are probable. There are currently 41,222 active cases.

Tennessee’s seven-day new cases average increased to 4,546 additional cases per day, while the 14-day new cases average increased to 3,957.

TDH also confirmed 53 additional deaths. The new deaths put Tennessee over 4,000 total since the beginning of the pandemic, there are now 4,048 deaths statewide. Tennessee surpassed 2,000 deaths on September 11, 191 days after the first reported case of COVID-19 in the state. It took only 69 days to double that.

The department reported 2,887 new cases, putting the state at 328,088 total cases, a .9% day-to-day increase since Wednesday. Of the total cases, 304,077 are confirmed and 24,011 are probable. There are currently 40,175 active cases.

Tennessee has reported more new COVID-19 cases during November than any other month. There have been 67,416 new cases reported this month, topping October’s record of 64,533.

All five of Tennessee’s record single-day increases have occurred in the last two weeks.

Tennessee’s seven-day new cases average decreased slightly to 4,480 additional cases per day, while the 14-day new cases average increased to 4,023.

TDH also confirmed 80 additional deaths making Thursday the state’s second-highest single-day increase for deaths.

For the fourth day in a row, the state reported a new record-high number of current COVID hospitalizations. There are 2,003 people currently hospitalized in Tennessee. The number of total hospitalizations now sits at 11,422.

On Saturday, the Tennessee Department of Health reported 335,887 COVID-19 cases statewide (up 4,355) with 291,819 inactive/recoveries and 4,211 deaths (up 9).

Statewide, 4,243,912 tests have been completed and 2,060 people are currently hospitalized.

For the tenth day in a row, the state reported a new record-high number of current COVID hospitalizations. There are 2,183 people currently hospitalized in Tennessee.

Last week, Tennessee reported more new cases (30,767) and deaths (334) than any other week of the pandemic.

Seven new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Friday in Tennessee for a total of 4,526, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.

Tennessee also reported 4,340 new coronavirus cases. The cumulative number of cases is 356,716, according to the TDOH.

Some 4,398,584 have been administered and 2,144 people are currently hospitalized across the state.

The total COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is 363,466 as of November 28, 2020 including 4,541 deaths, 2,233 current hospitalizations and 323,376 recovered.

The health department reported 6,750 new cases, bringing the state to 363,466 total cases. Of those cases, 344,511 are confirmed and 28,955 are probable.

TDH also confirmed 15 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee up to 4,541 total deaths. The 15 deaths reported on November 28 bring the week’s total to 330 deaths, four deaths short of the record amount of deaths reported last week – 334.

This brings the state's total case count to 366,518. So far 4,554 Tennesseans have lost their lives to the virus.
