Another 308 Texans diagnosed with COVID-19 have died, pushing the virus’ statewide toll to 26,208 including nearly 700 Central Texas residents, according to data the Department of State Health Services released Thursday afternoon.

Statewide, the number of hospitalized patients rose by 150 to 10,724 Thursday from 10,574 Wednesday.

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported 13,300 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 Thursday, 12,783 of them new, increasing the statewide total to 1,464,556.

Across the state, 4,096 more coronavirus cases and 200 COVID-19 deaths were reported Friday.

Texas has now reported 1,657,857 total cases and 26,408 fatalities.

Of the new cases, 3,123 were confirmed and 973 were probable. The state has reported 1,467,898 confirmed cases and 189,959 probable cases.

The state also added 219 older confirmed cases and 20 older probable cases that were recently reported by labs.

There are 10,868 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 3,346 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

On Friday, 21.35% of patients in the hospital region covering the D-FW area were COVID-19 patients, according to the state dashboard.

Coronavirus hospitalizations in Texas fell Saturday but continued to hover near their summer peak, as state health officials reported more than 2,500 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 deaths linked to the disease.

The state health department reported there were 10,773 patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, a decrease of nearly 100 from Friday when hospitalizations hit their highest number since July.

There were 2,127 newly confirmed cases of the virus Saturday and another 428 probable cases, according to the health department.

At least 11,351 people were hospitalized with the disease caused by the coronavirus — more than 450 patients beyond the previous one-day record of 10,893 of hospitalizations, set July 22 during a summer surge.

The current mark is an increase of nearly 2,500 more patients since the end of November.

State health officials also noted 49 newly reported deaths Monday, and 12,841 newly confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the state set a record for COVID-19 hospitalizations for the second day in a row Tuesday, with 11,775 coronavirus patients in Texas hospitals. It's a 475-person increase from Monday.

State health officials also posted 26,990 new cases Tuesday, also a record, but they said some of those cases occurred over the holiday weekend and weren't immediately reported by local health officials

The state reported 26,990 new COVID-19 cases, breaking the previous daily record set less than a week ago, according to Bloomberg News.

Separately, the state set a new record for COVID-19 hospitalizations, the outlet reported, with 11,775.

Texas hit a new record high for patients hospitalized with COVID-19 for the fifth consecutive day Friday, in a continued surge of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus following holiday gatherings and travel.

Texas reported 12,481 COVID-19 patients in state hospitals on New Year's Day, an increase of more than 1,750 from a week ago.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, intensive care units in several parts of Texas were full or nearly full.

State health officials on Friday reported 12,369 new, confirmed cases of the virus and another 3,658 probable cases.

Coronavirus hospitalizations fell slightly in Texas Saturday but remained near their record high, as health officials said there were about 600 intensive-care beds available across the state of nearly 29 million people.

Texas reported 12,319 COVID-19 patients in hospitals Saturday, ending five consecutive days of record breaking hospitalizations.

Intensive care units in several parts of Texas were full or nearly full, with 626 ICU beds available statewide Saturday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The department reported 96 new fatalities, as well as 3,995 new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 487 probable cases. The actual number of cases is believed to be far higher because many people haven’t been tested and some who get sick don’t show symptoms.

Intensive care units in several parts of the state were full or nearly full Sunday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The department reported 14,535 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, 1,510 more probable cases and 50 fatalities.

The statewide COVID-19 death toll increased to more than 29,300 Friday, McLennan County’s rose to more than 300 and hospitalization rates remain high here and around the state as the Texas Department of State Health Services prepares to establish mass vaccination hubs next week.

At least 13,921 COVID-19 patients were in Texas hospitals Friday, almost 140 more than the record 13,784 who were hospitalized on Thursday.

At least 202 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized Friday in Trauma Service Area M, which includes McLennan, Bosque, Falls, Hill and Limestone counties, accounting for about 44% of all hospitalizations and occupying about 32% of available beds, well above the 15% ceiling that triggers capacity reductions under orders Gov. Greg Abbott issued on Sept. 17 and Oct. 7.

The statewide death toll increased by 372 to 29, 310 on Friday.

Across the state, 24,325 more cases and a record 426 COVID-19 deaths were reported Thursday, including 24,015 new cases and 310 older cases that were recently reported by labs. Texas has now reported 2,045,699 total cases and 31,050 fatalities.

Of the new cases, 20,047 were confirmed and 3,968 were probable. The state has reported 1,794,545 confirmed cases and 251,154 probable cases.

There are 14,052 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 4,033 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

For the third day in a row, Texas has reported over 400 COVID-19 fatalities. Texas reported 3,679 fatalities in the last 14 days.

For the fourth day in a row, Texas reports over 20,000 new cases a day. Over the last 7 days Texas averaged 18,519 new cases.

Texas’ death toll now stands at 35,168.

Of the cases reported Wednesday, 15,072 were confirmed and 4,541 were probable.

Of the new cases, 14,969 were confirmed and 3,140 were probable. Of the older cases, 1,068 were confirmed and 392 were probable.

The state has now reported 2,349,262 cases overall, including 2,049,055 confirmed and 300,207 probable. (The state also removed 335 cases from the total confirmed cases due to a data audit in Hays County.)

The Texas Department of State Health Services on Wednesday reported 10,827 hospitalizations.

More than 37,650 people in Texas have died from COVID-19, the third-highest death count in the U.S., according to data from researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

Over the past two weeks, the rolling average number of daily new cases in Texas has remained mostly constant around 20,152 per day, according to Johns Hopkins.

The Texas Department of State Health Services said the state's COVID-19 deaths now total 40,645. The state's confirmed and probable coronavirus cases rose by 3,735 to 2,567,297, an estimated 250,233 of which are active. Of those, 7,661 required hospitalization as of Monday, the most recent total made available by the state.

The confirmed and probable coronavirus cases reported to the state rose by 3,506 to 2,571,063, of which an estimated 243,437 are active.
