Florida on Saturday added 8,410 new cases of COVID-19 to its pandemic tally, ending its worst week for infections since Aug. 1.

Department of Health records show 56,732 people tested positive for the virus over the past week, continuing a monthlong trend.

Florida’s surge is part of a nationwide wave that on Friday hit a pandemic record of 195,542 new cases across the country, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The state experienced a 49.2% increase over the 38,019 cases from the previous week. Two weeks ago, Florida had 34,530 people with new infections.

This week marks the most new cases for the state since the week ending Aug. 1.

The state on Saturday also confirmed 42 new deaths linked to COVID-19.

Overall, at least 18,152 people have died from the virus in Florida, official records show.

As of 3 p.m. Saturday, 3,396 people were hospitalized in Florida with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.

The state’s pandemic data report shows a total of 17,930 Floridians have died from COVID-19. In addition, 222 non-residents have died after contracting the virus.

Florida reported 6,587 coronavirus infections and 62 deaths on Sunday, bringing the overall death toll to 18,214 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Since March, 938,414 people have tested positive for the virus.

By Sunday afternoon, the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration reported 3,613 people across Florida were in the hospital with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 — an increase of 138 hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

About 27 percent of regular hospital beds statewide and 23 percent of adult beds in Florida’s intensive care units were available for new patients on Sunday. About 42 percent of all pediatric ICU beds were empty by 3 p.m. on Sunday, reporting 374 total patients.

The number of people hospitalized has continued to increase in recent weeks, up from 3,118 last Sunday and 2,732 the week before.

The Florida Department of Health on Tuesday reported 8,555 new COVID-19 cases and 73 more deaths as the state closes in on 1 million total infections since the beginning of the pandemic.

Florida has recorded 953,300 cases of COVID-19 to date. Only Texas and California have recorded more cases.

The new resident deaths announced Tuesday bring the resident toll to 18,157.

Florida Department of Health officials reported Friday afternoon that 342 more people died of COVID-19 in Florida and 17,344 more people tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday and Thursday.

The department of health’s dashboard updated Florida’s total coronavirus cases from 961,676, which the agency reported on Wednesday, to 979,020 on Friday.

The state’s official coronavirus death toll increased from 18,254 on Wednesday to 18,596 on Friday. The data includes the deaths of 233 non-residents and 18,363 Florida residents.

Officials also reported there have been at least 54,467 Florida residents hospitalized with COVID-19 since the agency started to track cases in mid-March.

The Florida Department of Health reported 6,276 new cases of COVID-19 just two days after Thanksgiving.

The state has now reported 979,751 cases since the beginning of the pandemic in March.

The Florida Department of Health on Saturday reported 81 people have recently died from COVID-19. As of Saturday’s coronavirus report, a total of 18,677 deaths across the state have been related to the coronavirus, a number that includes 235 non-resident deaths in Florida.

Currently, there are 3,913 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida, according to the state Agency for Health Care Administration. In total, 54,591 people have been hospitalized in Florida after complications from the coronavirus.

The state of Florida’s COVID-19 dashboard reported 7,363 new cases Sunday, continuing a trend that will push the state past the 1 million case mark for the novel coronavirus pandemic.

As it is, Florida has 992,660 total cases. The 58 resident deaths and one non-resident death reported mean 18,500 Floridians and 18,736 people overall have died in Florida with COVID-19 as the main cause.

As of 12:16 p.m. Sunday, the AHCA said there were 4,050 people currently hospitalized, a jump of 123 from 9:30 p.m. Saturday and a sharp rise of 437 from a week ago.

Florida added 6,659 coronavirus infections and 98 deaths on Monday, continuing its steady climb toward logging one million cases since the start of the pandemic.

The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 999,319, just below the nearly 1.16 million cases recorded in Texas and 1.2 million cases in California. In the past nine months, the Florida Department of Health has added 18,834 coronavirus-related deaths.

With a population of 21.48 million, Monday’s report means that roughly 1 in every 21 Florida residents has now tested positive for COVID-19.

The Agency for Health Care Administration reported 4,159 people across Florida were in the hospital with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 — an increase of 161 hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

About 27 percent of regular hospital beds statewide and 24 percent of adult beds in Florida’s intensive care units were available for new patients on Monday.

The Florida Department of Health says the number of known cases of COVID-19 in the state rose by 8,847 Tuesday. According to the state's daily update, the total number of cases in Florida is now 1,008,166.

The number of Florida resident deaths has reached 18,679, an increase of 82 since Monday's update. In addition, a total of 237 non-Floridians have died in the state.

Of the 1,008,166 cases, 991,910 are Florida residents while 16,256 are non-Florida residents currently in the state.

As of Tuesday, 4,279 Floridians were currently hospitalized for a primary diagnosis of COVID-19; in total, 55,197 have been hospitalized for treatment at some point.

The Florida Department of Health on Thursday reported 100 people have recently died from COVID-19. As of Thursday’s coronavirus report, a total of 19,112 deaths across the state have been related to the coronavirus, a number that includes 238 non-resident deaths in Florida.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are currently 4,291 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida, according to the state Agency for Health Care Administration.

In total, 55,820 people have been hospitalized in Florida after complications from the coronavirus. The state reported 253 new hospitalizations on Thursday.

On Thursday, the state reported 10,870 new cases, which was the highest single-day increase since the summer spike.

Florida reported 120 new virus fatalities among residents on Friday. The report does not mention the exact date of death, therefore the deaths announced may not be from the past 24 hours. It can sometimes take weeks for fatalities to be logged.

Florida’s Department of Health on Saturday confirmed 10,431 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s known total to 1,049,638. This is the third consecutive day that that state has added more than 10,000 cases and tops Friday’s 10,177.

Also, 90 new resident deaths were announced, bringing the resident death toll to 19,084.

The cumulative non-resident death toll held steady at 242 deaths.

As of 2:45 p.m. Saturday, there were 4,343 COVID-19 patients admitted into hospitals throughout the state, according to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration dashboard.

The state has had a total of 56,317 Florida residents hospitalized for COVID-19-related complications, according to Florida’s COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard.

The Florida Department of Health reported 8,436 coronavirus cases and 96 deaths Sunday, bringing the overall number of known infections in the state to 1,058,074.

That means roughly 1 in every 19 Floridians has tested positive for the virus, according to state data.

The number of deaths attributed to the virus since March 1, when Florida’s first known coronavirus cases were reported, is 19,423 — the third-highest death toll in the nation. The number of coronavirus deaths has continued to rise this week. By Sunday, the state was averaging 98.1 per day.

In Florida, Hillsborough County’s ICU availability was about 16 percent Sunday, teetering on the brink of Newsom’s threshold. Pinellas has just 12.2 percent ICU availability and Manatee has 13.7 percent, according to state data.

By Sunday afternoon, the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration reported 4,400 people across Florida were in the hospital with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 — an increase of 145 hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.

About 25 percent of regular hospital beds statewide and 23 percent of adult beds in Florida’s intensive care units were available Sunday. About 39 percent of all pediatric ICU beds were empty by 4 p.m. There were 409 total patients.

Florida reported 7,711 new coronavirus cases on Monday and another 105 new resident deaths linked to COVID-19. The state has now reported 1,065,785 cases since the pandemic began.

The state’s pandemic data report shows a total of 19,282 Floridians have died from COVID-19. In addition, 247 non-residents have died after contracting the virus.

Hospitalizations hit a peak in late July of about 9,500 patients statewide, then dipped as low as 2,011 on Oct. 19. The numbers steadily increased throughout November and December.

As of Monday, there were 4,403 people hospitalized in Florida with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19, according to the state Agency for Health Care Administration.

The Florida Department of Health reported 11,335 coronavirus cases and 135 deaths Thursday, raising the death total to 19,851. It has recorded nearly 1.1 million infections since March.

Florida has seen about 9,381 new cases and 105.5 deaths on average per day this week. The weekly death average peaked on Aug. 2 with 184.9 deaths announced per day and this number is on the rise again.

As of Thursday afternoon, Florida’s hospitals were treating 4,531 patients with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19, according to the Agency for Health Care Administration.

The state reported 269 admissions Thursday, including 65 locally.

About 21 percent of regular hospital beds and around 19 percent of adult intensive care unit beds were open statewide.

Florida’s resident death toll from coronavirus rose to 19,714 with the addition of 123 more reported fatalities on Friday while also adding 11,699 more positive COVID-19 cases to bring the total to 1,106,396.

With a population of about 21.5 million, about one in 19 people in the state have now been infected. That number is closer to one in 21 nationally and one in 111 worldwide.

With 263 non-Florida resident deaths, including three new reported Friday, the state’s combined total stands at 19,977

Florida has seen about one in 1,089 of its residents die from the virus while nationally it’s closer to one in 1,117 people, and worldwide it’s at about one in 4,906 of the planet’s 7.8 billion population.

Across the state, 4,624 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of about 6:30 p.m. Friday including 222 in Orange County, 100 in Osceola, 93 in Lake and 65 in Seminole.

State data through Friday showed 57,728 people have been hospitalized in Florida, 260 more than Thursday’s update.

While he was making the case for no new business restrictions, DeSantis’ office refused to publicize reports from the task force which recommended a more robust public response.

The Dec. 6 report, which was obtained by the Center for Public Integrity, is one in a series of weekly reports which the governor’s office has refused to regularly provide news organizations.

The Republican governor has ruled out any further business restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the virus, arguing such measures do not work and harm the economy.

The Florida Department of Health reported 8,958 coronavirus infections and 84 deaths on Sunday as the number of Americans killed by the virus in December surpassed 30,000.

Since the start of the month, the U.S. has logged 30,102 coronavirus-related deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University’s Coronavirus Resource Center.

The U.S. has tallied 16,105,795 infections and 298,147 deaths from the virus this year, according to the Johns Hopkins. Worldwide, the virus has infected 71 million people and caused 1.6 million deaths.

In Florida, the number of coronavirus infections reported by the state has grown to 1,125,931 and lives lost to 20,133.

The state is currently averaging 101.4 new deaths per day, records show.

By Sunday afternoon, the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration reported 4,687 people across Florida were in the hospital with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 — an increase of 141 in the past 24 hours.

Roughly 19 percent were in Tampa Bay hospitals, which reported 899 coronavirus patients.

Statewide, about 24 percent of regular hospital beds and 21.5 percent of beds in adult intensive care units were available for new patients on Sunday.

In total, 58,269 people have been hospitalized in Florida after complications from the coronavirus. The state reported 142 new hospitalizations on Monday.

The state health department also reported 125 deaths as a result of the highly contagious respiratory disease, three of them non-residents.

On Thursday, Florida’s Department of Health reported more than 13,100 new positive COVID-19 infections, the third-highest since the pandemic began.

The Florida Department of Health reported 13,164 new cases on Thursday, bringing the state’s overall total to 1,168,483 cases since March.

Florida reported 104 new virus deaths Thursday. This means at least 20,594 people have died in relation to coronavirus across the state, including 289 non-residents who died in Florida.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are currently 5,127 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida, according to the state Agency for Health Care Administration, a decrease by about 40 patients within 24 hours.

Since March, 59,291 people have been hospitalized in Florida after complications from the coronavirus. That number includes the 322 people who have been recently hospitalized due to the virus, according to the health department’s report.
