The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported 465 more test-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state and six new deaths from the disease.

Over the past week, Utah is averaging 647 reported cases per day and a positive test rate of 5.2%. There are currently 203 Utahns reported hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 84 in intensive care.

The state's overall ICU capacity dipped just below 70%, at 69.8%, on Sunday after months of overcrowding. On Jan. 15, the state was using more than 93% of its ICU capacity.

Overall, there have now been 371,235 confirmed cases, 1,935 deaths and 716,536 vaccines administered in Utah since the pandemic began.

About 54.2% of non-ICU hospital beds are occupied, according to the health department.

Of the 2,243,694 people tested for COVID-19 in Utah so far, 16.7% have tested positive for the disease. The number of total tests conducted since the pandemic started is now at 3,903,480, up 18,594 since Friday.

Currently, 191 people are hospitalized with the virus and 73 are in the ICU, the fewest since Oct. 3.

Health officials reported 412 more cases Sunday.

The Utah Department of Health reported 23 additional fatalities Thursday, raising the total to 2,015. Fifteen of the latest 23 reported deaths occurred before Feb. 11 and were confirmed to be COVID-19 related after additional testing.

The state’s first recorded death due to the coronavirus was announced on March 22, 2020.

Deaths reported in past day • 23.

Hospitalizations reported in past day • 167. That’s down eight from Wednesday. Of those currently hospitalized, 66 are in intensive care units — seven fewer than Wednesday.

New cases of COVID-19 are on the rise again in Utah. Since hitting a nine-month low of 221 on Monday, that number more than doubled to 481 on Tuesday — and jumped to 699 on Wednesday.

The number of hospitalizations also rose, and five more deaths were reported by the Utah Department of Health.

Overall, that brings Utah to 381,254 total confirmed cases, 2,060 coronavirus-related deaths, and 1,137,046 vaccines administered since the pandemic began.

There are 160 Utahns currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 57 in intensive care, the health department reported Saturday. The state is currently utilizing about 75% of its ICU capacity.

Utah reported 3,250 new cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, down 7.9% in the previous week. Then, 3,529 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19 were reported.

In Utah, 35 people were reported dead of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. In the week before that, 51 people were reported dead.

A total of 381,629 people in Utah have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and 2,062 people have died from the disease, Johns Hopkins University data shows.

Number of new COVID-19 cases in Utah climbs even higher — to 1,211

The number of new cases of COVID-19 in Utah reported on Friday surpassed Thursday’s 5½-month high — 1,211 was the most since Feb. 10. In the past two days, the Utah Department of Health has reported more than 2,300 new cases of the coronavirus.

Deaths reported in past day • One — a Salt Lake County woman between the ages of 65-84.

Hospitalizations reported in the past day • 351. That’s two fewer than on Thursday. Of those currently hospitalized, 152 are in intensive care, four fewer than on Thursday.
