Arizona health authorities reported 1,565 new coronavirus cases and 16 additional deaths on Friday morning.

That put the state’s documented totals at 244,045 COVID-19 infections and 5,934 fatalities, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.

It was the fifth time this week with more than 1,000 cases in a daily report.

The number of Arizona’s confirmed or suspected COVID-19 hospital inpatients rose overnight to 900 on Thursday. That was 53.5% higher than Oct. 1, when it was 586, and the most since Aug. 26.

The number of COVID-19 patients in ICU beds increased to 188, 50.4% higher than Oct. 1, when it was 125, and the third most since Sept. 10.

The number of patients hospitalized statewide for known or suspected COVID-19 cases decreased to 889 on Friday, down from 900 on Thursday.

The number of Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators was at 104 on Friday.

Friday's dashboard shows 86% of inpatient beds and 85% of ICU beds in use, which includes people being treated for COVID-19 and other patients. COVID-19 patients were using 10% of all inpatient beds and 12% of ICU beds. Overall, 28% of ventilators were in use.

The Navajo Nation reported 11,602 cases and 575 confirmed deaths as of Thursday.

Arizona's confirmed coronavirus death toll exceeded 6,000 on Tuesday.

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 38 more deaths and 1,679 additional cases, increasing Arizona's totals to 6,020 deaths and 249,818 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Hospitalizations for coronavirus patients reached 956 Monday, a level last reported in late August. The rolling average of new daily cases rose from 835 on Oct. 19 to 1,311 on Monday, according to Johns Hopkins University data analyzed by The Associated Press. Approximately 9.6 percent of tests are returning positive.

The rolling average of daily deaths rose from 10.1 to 15.3 and the positivity average increased from 8.9% to 11.8%.

Arizona reported nearly 3,000 additional known COVID-19 cases on Tuesday as deaths, hospitalizations and testing positivity also rose and the state's top education official said tougher virus prevention steps are needed.

The state reported 2,984 new cases with 10 additional deaths, increasing the state’s totals to 279,896 cases and 6,312 deaths.

The Department of Health Services’COVID-19 dashboard showed the number of hospitalizations related to COVID-19 reached 1,624 as of Monday, including 385 patients in intensive care unit beds.

The average jumped from 1,311 on Nov. 2 to 2,459 on Monday while the death average went from 15.3 to 19.7 during the same period as the positivity average went from 11.8% to 16.5%.

The number of patients with suspected or known COVID-19 in intensive care units across Arizona was at 438 on Saturday, the most ICU beds in use in a single day since Aug. 14.

The number of Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators was at 256 on Saturday, the most ventilators in use in a single day since Aug. 18.

Sunday's dashboard shows 89% of inpatient beds and 90% of ICU beds in use, which includes people being treated for COVID-19 and other patients. COVID-19 patients were using 22% of all inpatient beds and 25% of ICU beds. Overall, 35% of ventilators were in use.

Arizona reported more than 2,600 new COVID-19 cases on Monday and no new known deaths as hospitalizations continue to climb.

Intensive care units across the state were at 90% occupancy on Monday.

Gov. Doug Ducey last week said he would not impose a statewide mask mandate, leaving it up to individual jurisdictions to impose requirements.

Identified COVID-19 cases in Arizona rose by 2,659 Monday to 302,324. There were no new known deaths reported. The total number of known deaths is 6,464, according to the daily report from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Monday's dashboard shows 87% of inpatient beds and 90% of ICU beds in use, which includes people being treated for COVID-19 and other patients. COVID-19 patients were using 23% of all inpatient beds and 27% of ICU beds. Overall, 36% of ventilators were in use.

The Department of Health Services on Tuesday reported 4,544 new cases and 51 new deaths, bringing the state’s totals to 306,868 cases and 6,515 deaths.

Virus-related hospitalizations also continued to increase, reaching 2,084 as of Monday, including 474 patients in intensive care unit beds.

New cases have eclipsed 1,000 for 23 of the past 26 days, with 16 of those days seeing more than 2,000 new cases for the first time since the state's summer surge. Tuesday was the 10th time the state reported more than 4,000 new cases in a day since the pandemic began (six days in late June and early July, plus Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Tuesday).

The number of patients with suspected or known COVID-19 in intensive care units across Arizona was at 531 on Tuesday, the most ICU beds in use in a single day since Aug. 8.

The number of Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators continues to go up and was at 335 on Tuesday, the most ventilators in use in a single day since Aug. 10.

There have been 314,326 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 6,568 coronavirus-related deaths reported in Arizona, according to the state's latest numbers.

That's an increase from the 306,868 confirmed cases and 6,515 coronavirus-related deaths reported on Monday.

A week ago, there were 279,896 cases and 6,312 deaths reported in Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 3,474 new cases and 44 new deaths on Thursday.

Tuesday had the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases ever reported in Arizona, just after July 1's report of 4,433 cases.

Arizona health authorities on Friday reported 4,314 new coronavirus cases with 20 additional deaths.

That put the state’s documented totals at 318,638 COVID-19 infections and 6,588 fatalities, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.

The number of Arizona’s confirmed or suspected COVID-19 hospital inpatients was 2,301 on Thursday, more than doubling since the start of November and the most since July 30.

The number of COVID-19 patients in ICU beds was 532 on Thursday, more than doubling since the start of November and the most since Aug. 7.

Statewide, 27% of all inpatient beds and 30% of all ICU beds were filled with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients on Thursday, levels last seen in early August. Overall, inpatient beds were 85% filled and ICU beds were 89% filled on Thursday.

Identified COVID-19 cases in Arizona rose by 4,136 on Saturday to 322,774, and 36 new known deaths were reported, taking the total number of known deaths to 6,624, according to the daily report from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

New cases have eclipsed 1,000 for 26 of the past 29 days, with 19 of those days seeing more than 2,000 new cases for the first time since the state's summer surge. Saturday was the 12th time the state reported more than 4,000 new cases in a day since the pandemic began.

The number of patients hospitalized statewide for known or suspected COVID-19 cases was at 2,383 on Friday, the highest number reported since July 31.

The number of patients with suspected or known COVID-19 in intensive care units across Arizona was at 553 on Friday, which was the most ICU beds in use in a single day since Aug. 8.

The number of Arizonans with confirmed and suspected COVID-19 on ventilators was at 343 on Friday, which was the most ventilators in use in a single day since Aug. 10.

Wednesday's dashboard shows 86% of inpatient beds and 89% of ICU beds in use, which includes people being treated for COVID-19 and other patients. COVID-19 patients were using 28% of all inpatient beds and 32% of ICU beds. Overall, 39% of ventilators were in use.
